Modern life constantly leaves people pressed for time and burdened by emotional fatigue. Addressing this reality, a new art therapy platform has recently drawn attention in the cultural sector. Color Sound Therapy combines color and music to dissolve the boundaries between the senses.
Since its launch, the platform has gained increasing recognition through word of mouth. It goes beyond passive viewing by reinterpreting the emotional energy of color through music and media art. Viewers select a color that resonates with their emotional state and experience comfort and renewal through it. In short, it can be described as “music to be seen and color to be heard.”
The project was jointly developed by the PIB Institute, directed by Ockgi Kim and dedicated to color psychology research, and artist Jiheon Oh, whose practice consistently explores synesthetic art.
Drawing on its accumulated research, the institute incorporated the COLOR IN PHOS color system into the platform by organizing twelve colors according to their psychological characteristics.
“Everyone experiences moments of exhaustion. At such times, the meeting of color and sound can give us the strength to stand firmly again,” Oh explains. Through the project, he sought to translate the artistic concept of chromesthesia, or color-hearing, into a language accessible to the general public.
The arts and cultural community regards Color Sound Therapy as a new point of intersection between art and psychology. Grounded in color psychology and theories of synesthesia, its content provides an artistic experience while offering practical applications in psychological counseling and art therapy. Its potential lies in a structure that offers emotional stability to the public and a useful tool for professionals.
The platform may eventually expand into offline exhibitions and therapy programs, creating a multidimensional ecosystem of participatory art therapy. Beyond conventional exhibitions and performances, it has the potential to open a new space for art-based healing closely connected to everyday life.
Color Sound Therapy reminds us of art’s fundamental power: its ability to awaken the senses and soothe the mind. In a rapidly changing world, the comfort offered by color and sound is emerging as another artistic language through which contemporary individuals can care for their inner selves.
