Centered on chromesthesia, this exhibition is a collaboration with Jihern Oh, a music director and media artist whose practice spans a wide range of creative fields. It seeks to offer a sense of hope and healing to those exhausted by the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenging circumstances.
Chromesthesia, or color-hearing, refers to a multisensory phenomenon in which sound and color interact, with the experience of one sense evoking the other. Music perceived through hearing stimulates the inner psyche, while the sensory qualities intertwined within us come together through color and sound to create a holistic experience of sensory healing.
The Korea Emotional Color Association provides each visitor in need of comfort with color-based psychological consultation and identifies a color suited to their emotional state. Based on this unique color, Jihern Oh creates media art and music through which the visitor is invited to experience a sense of healing.
The process of translating color into music is grounded in a range of psychological and scientific principles, including the energy, influence, and wavelengths associated with color. Through this approach, the exhibition aims to offer visitors a more profound and resonant experience.
