The 2nd Color Conference 2024

In 2024, I participated as a speaker at the 2nd Color Conference, where I shared my research and artistic practice centered on chromesthesia.

Chromesthesia is a phenomenon in which sounds evoke visual sensations such as colors or forms. My interest in synesthesia, however, extends beyond simply assigning a particular color to a specific pitch. I focus on how sound stimulates emotions and memories, and how these experiences expand into color and image.

At the conference, I explored how music and color influence human perception and emotion while presenting my ongoing research into chromesthesia and related media art projects. I also discussed the possibilities of multisensory art, particularly how combinations of sound, color, light, moving images, and space can encourage audiences to perceive and interpret artworks in new ways.

Our senses do not operate in complete isolation. A sound may evoke a particular color, while a color may recall music or emotions held within our memories. Art can reveal these sensory connections, creating environments in which familiar things can be heard and seen anew.

The 2nd Color Conference provided a valuable opportunity to consider color beyond the visual realm by connecting it with music, emotion, memory, and technology. I intend to continue expanding my research on chromesthesia through exhibitions, artworks, education, and lectures, while exploring new sensory experiences that emerge between sound and color.

About Us
